It is with deepest sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our mom and grandma Doreen Carli (Lacaria, nee Picard) on December 16, 2020. Doreen was born November 17th, 1948 in Edmundston, New Brunswick. She was one of 5 children born to Maurice and Lucille Picard. Her passions were gardening, crafting and pampering her beloved cats. Her happiest days were camping and fishing with her late husband, Reino Koivumaa, at Whitefish Lake, and sure loved a good game of cribbage.

Doreen had a strong will and spirit and will be remembered most for her stubbornness, determination and independence by all who knew her. She faced daily chronic pain for the majority of her life but never let it stop her from doing anything because she always said "there was nothing you can't do if you set your mind to it" and she proved that by overcoming a lifetime of obstacles. She could be seen slowly trekking through Westfort square with her walker or working in her back yard to create the perfect garden. She was a firm believer that everyone was equal and that without love and respect, you had nothing. Her daughters were the center of her world and she taught them many valuable lessons that they will continue to carry with them, the most important was to always say 'I love you' as you never know when it would be the last time. For 50 years, she held true to this teaching, and her daughters are truly grateful for all of her wisdom and will carry it on proudly.

Doreen is predeceased by her husband Reino Koivumaa and parents Maurice and Lucille. She will be dearly missed by her daughters Cindy-Lynn Thomson-Parker (Darren Parker - Mitch, Shayna, Joe) and Lori Cvercko (Bill) and her beloved grandchildren Brandan and Madison. She will also be greatly missed by her extended Westfort family.

There will be no funeral service, but a small Celebration of Life to take place at The Westfort, at a later date (TBD).
