Doreen passed away peacefully on Sunday with her 2 sons beside her. Doreen will always be remembered by her 5 children - Kim (Marielle) of Winnipeg, Ken (Karen) and Maureen (John) of Thunder Bay, Linda of South Carolina and Dianne of Sudbury, 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband John in 2006 - Doreen is fondly remembered by her 2 sisters Gail Single (Harold), Kathy Finnbogason, brother-in-law Bill Chrustie (Marguerite), sister-in-law Ann Chrustie, and brother-in-law Harold Flatt.

Doreen was born in Manitoba, the second of 6 children. Doreen taught school for a few years in small town Manitoba and in the Yukon before meeting the love of her life, John Chrustie and they were married in 1953. In 1962 they moved to Port Arthur to raise their family. Doreen loved nature, her gardens, the outdoors and wintering in the warm southern states. Becoming a grandmother was a great day for Doreen. She loved her grandchildren and especially loved wee babies and they loved her.

The family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff at Dawson Court, Grandview and Hogarth for their care and compassion for Doreen over the years. Thank you for taking such good care of our mother. A private family service will take place. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Thunder Bay Conservatory or the Thunder Bay Branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Doreen Chrustie will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 9, 2019.
