Taylor, Elva Doreen

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Doreen, at age 89, on May 17, 2022. She passed away peacefully with family by her side at her residence of Southbridge Roseview Manor.

Mom will be sadly missed by her children: Dianne (Patrick), Ken, Lawrence (Roberta), Elaine, Keith (Marie) and Bill.

Mom will also be missed by her 11 grandchildren (Jennifer, Becky, Scott, James, Kevin, Jill, Shawn, Ryan, Sasha, Josh, and Brittany) and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by husband John Slater Taylor, and her parents Nelson and Ruby Garnett (nee Robinson), brother Gordon; sisters Elaine, Joan and Nancy.

Doreen was born in Hearst, Ontario, on November 2, 1932. She was raised there with siblings Nelson, Gordon, Janet, John (Jack), Peggy, Elaine, Lila, Joanie, Nancy, and Tom.

After her marriage, Doreen moved to many places in Canada including stops in the Maritimes, Central Ontario and NorthWestern Ontario, finally residing in Thunder Bay.

Mom lived for her family. She was a dedicated sister, wife, mother, grandmother (Bumpa), and great grandmother. Doreen loved cooking and baking. Other hobbies she enjoyed included knitting, camping, gardening, and birdwatching. Right up until the end, Mom was always up

for a game of cards or Yahtzee. She looked forward to a lifetime of Sunday family gatherings - feeding anybody who showed up. Her early training and experience as a bush camp cook sure paid off!

The family would like to thank the 3rd Floor Staff at Roseview Manor for her care over the past 6 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held following Doreen's interment at Riverside Cemetery. Should friends and family so desire, donations made in her memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
