Mrs. Doreen Eleanor Perger, aged 94 years, passed away peacefully in Hogarth Riverview Manor, on Saturday, September 12, 2020.
Doreen was born on 5 September 1926 in Fort William, and enjoyed a happy childhood, spending her summers with her cousins at the family camp on East Green Bay. An adventurous teenager, she travelled across Canada as a member of the Maurice Jackson all girl orchestra, forming lifelong friendships.
Doreen first worked for the FW Times-Journal and FW Sanatorium, then for many years as a secretary with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation until retirement.
Doreen will be sadly missed by her daughters Patricia (Bob McChristie) and Lorraine (John Bradley) and granddaughter Jessica McChristie (Garret Lehto).
She was predeceased by her husband John after 46 years of life together, as well as her parents Edward and Jean Hebert and very close first cousins Pearl Girard and Doris Chapman.
In accordance with Doreen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family internment will take place at a future date.
Doreen Eleanor Marie Perger will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 13, 2021.
