It is with much sadness and love that the family of Mrs Doreen Teresa Simpson announce her passing, with all her family by her side, on Tuesday June 19th following a long battle with lung disease.

Born in 1937, Mom recently celebrated her 81st birthday in May. She was employed as a valued member for many years with two local accounting firms.

Mom was solely committed to raising her three daughters and always her first priority was to ensure we grew up not with a lot of material things, but learning the values of strength, determination, resilience, kindness and love. She had an unwavering belief that the Lord helped to guide her hand and in her most personal alone times, she felt his presence and it gave her peace that passes understanding.

Mom survived and thrived through many battles with several serious health issues over the years. She became our hero displaying amazing examples of fortitude and resilience overcoming these life challenges.

She was very proud of all her children and grandchildren’s many accomplishments, attending all their sporting, artistic events and performances. Volunteering was important to Mom who offered her skills for many years to Heart & Stroke and St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church of which she was a member for many years. Many long time friendships were made through Beta Sigma Phi and Tai Chi.

Mom was blessed with many creative talents that included playing the accordion, singing in the church choir, was a self taught photographer and writer, have some articles published, but her real passion and artistry came through her many paintings which we all treasure greatly.

Predeceased by her parents Ida and Percy, brother Annie Alexander, and infant granddaughter Deavon Monteith. Surviving and missing her greatly are her three daughters; Tara Monteith (Graeme) and daughter Brynn; Catherine Remus and her children Sarah and James; Lori Gosselin (Gerry) and her sons Michael and Scott. Also surviving are her dear nephews Lance Alexander (Jan) and Terry Alexander (Joeann), and very close sister-in-law Ann Alexander.

At Mom’s request, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of her life will take place on Monday June 25th at 11am at Fort William Baptist Church on Moodie St. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Mom loved her flowers but should you wish to make a donation, these can be accepted with the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Breast Cancer Foundation.
