Dorothy Humphrey
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy May Humphrey at the age of 94 on Friday, November 24, 2017 with family by her side. Dorothy was born in Winnipeg to parents John and Lillian Evoy, on November 2, 1923. Dorothy married the love of her life, Basil in 1945 and later moved to Port Arthur following his service in WWII with the Royal Canadian Navy.

She co-founded the family business with Basil in 1967 which operated for 50 years. Dorothy also generously supported minor hockey and junior golf in Current River throughout the years. She was an avid curler and enjoyed her weekly ritual playing bridge with her close friends. Her most coveted times however were at family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.

Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her sons Don (Kris) and Mark (Janice), grandchildren Joseph, Jesse, Lily, Jason (Sydney), Matthew, Michael, her nieces Lynn Bartell and Maureen (Gary) Silver, and nephew Paul (Sue) Varley.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, by her sister Iris (Tom) Varley, and husband Basil.

The family would also like to extend many thanks to the friendly staff at Roseview Manor for their love and care.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life for family and friends will be held Saturday December 2, 2017 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. in the Sargent Family Reception Centre, 21 N. Court Street. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson’s Support Group at the Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
