Dr. Robert "Bob" Moulson

The family of Dr. Robert “Bob” Moulson are saddened to announce his passing at age 84 years. He died peacefully at Hogarth-Riverview Manor on Saturday, January 16, 2021.

Dad had many health obstacles over the years, but he was a true warrior with a will for life. As a result, his death has come as a shock.

He was born in Toronto on March 23, 1936 to Cyril and Alice Moulson. When he was 3 years old, his mother died of Rheumatic Fever. Cy later married Ruth Hughes, known to the family and all of the friends as Gammy.

As a teenager, Dad met the love of his life, Pat Matthews, on a blind date and they later married in 1959. Through their courtship, Mom graduated from the Toronto Western School of Nursing and supported Dad through his graduation from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1961. They moved shortly afterwards to Fort William, where he joined the partnership of the Fort William Clinic. Dad loved being a Family Practitioner and he loved his patients. This defined him until his dying day. This was his true purpose in life.

Besides his Degree from the College of Family Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Dad also received his Fellowship from the College of Family Practice. In 2010 he was granted the prestigious Glenn Sawyer Service Award in recognition of significant service to the OMA, medical profession, or public at the community level.

In 2005, Dad was forced to retire due to illness. Once able, he brought his love of medicine to the role of lecturing medical students at NOSM. He also worked as a medical consultant at the Thunder Bay Plasma Centre for many years.

When not working, Dad and Mom had a love for travel. Some of their favourite memories were their annual vacations with friends and family. Afterwards, they would host viewing parties of all of the pictures Dad would take.

Dad was an avid Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He attended many games over the years and watched both teams faithfully all season long. He was hopeful to live to see the Leafs win another cup.

Dad leaves behind his children: David (Debbie) Moulson, Mark (Joy) Moulson and Ruthann (Rob) Isbell. His pride and joy were his many grandchildren: Max and Quinten Moulson, Joel Ferguson, Nathanael (Allison) Moulson, Joshua Moulson, Jessica (Rob) Cruise, Jon (Claire) Reid, Sydney, Samantha (Jill) and Bryce Isbell. He also greatly enjoyed his great grandchildren: Brianne Herridge and AddyFerguson, Edward Parker, Elli and Mayla Moulson, Hunter and June Cruise, and Blaise Reid. Dad is also survived by his sister-in-law Molly Matthews and brother-in-law Ken Irwin.

Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Pat in 2006; mother Alice in 1939; father Cyril in 1969; mother Ruth in 1996; father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Ira Matthews; brother-in-law Art Matthews and sister-in-law Wilma Irwin.

As per Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.

The family of Dr. Bob Moulson would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hogarth-Riverview Manor. It gave us great peace knowing that Dad was receiving the best of care. He loved you all and would say to us on a daily basis, “The staff here are excellent, the food is amazing and they take great care of me.
