Dwayne Gushulak

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Dwayne Gary Gushulak on Thursday, December 5, 2019.

Dwayne was born on August 17, 1959 in Atikokan, Ontario to Katherine and Konstantine Jack Gushulak, youngest brother to Jean, Raymond, Norman and Joyce.

He was loved by his wife of 25 years Lily Gushulak, his children Chasity Gushulak (Tim), Dwayne Joseph Gushulak, always his baby Brooke (Vernon) Armstrong, his fur baby and best friend Pino, grandchildren Hunter and Jackson St. Amand, Dylan, Natalie, Cooper and Vada Gushulak and Koen Armstrong.

Dwayne loved the outdoors. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, camping, golfing and story telling. He started his career as a Miner in 1978 at Caland Mine, Atikokan, Ontario.

In 1980 he joined the Mine Fire and Rescue Team at Umex Thierry Mine, Pickle Lake, Ontario. The team went to regional competitions and won for 3 consecutive years.

Mining is always been his passion: he was a driller, raise miner, bolter, production leader, supervisor, and trainer in different mines in Ontario, Yukon, BC, Manitoba, Australia and Fiji Islands.

Dwayne will be greatly missed and always loved by many including his sisters Joyce Colvin and Jean Wojciechowski, mother-in-law Esmenia dela Cruz, sisters-in-law Bonnie Gushulak, Beatrice Gushulak, Cherley dela Cruz, Emma Cardenas, and Cynthia Magbanua, brothers-in-law Frank Wojciechowski, Lynn Colvin, Franklin, Renato and Radney dela Cruz, and Jul Magbanua, numerous nephews, great nephews, nieces, great nieces, uncles, aunts and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Katherine and Konstantine Gushulak, father-in-law Santiago dela Cruz, brothers Ray and Norman Gushulak, and nephew Glen Gushulak

Services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 in the WESFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, Thunder Bay, Ontario at 6:00pm.
