It is with great sadness that the family of Dylan Eric Augruso announce his sudden passing on July 15, 2022.
Dylan was born to proud parents Marlene and Peter Augruso on September 29, 1991 in Thunder Bay, ON. He was the glue that solidified our family and although the youngest child, Dylan was always the wise and gentle soul in the room. He was often the one who we went to for advice and never shied away from helping other people in any way he could. Dylan touched the lives of so many with his kindness, compassion and intelligence. He had a knowing “smirk” for those that knew him and a curiosity that was never satisfied.
This curiosity, along with a sense of adventure, led Dylan to travel to countless countries around the world with his friends and loved ones. Most recently making trips to the Cayman Islands, Belize, Mexico and spending a month in Hilton Head, SC with the love of his life, Cassidy Levine and their dog Juno. Dylan and Cassidy recently solidified their love for each other getting engaged in the Niagara region on July 1st. Dylan was building a loving and happy home for himself and his family in Toronto.
As a young boy, Dylan grew up playing and later refereeing soccer. His love for the game carried on into adulthood where he was a lifelong Fiorentina and TFC fan. Dylan continued to play soccer upon his move to Toronto and also went to countless games with his father, brother, friends and anyone who he could convince to come along. He rarely missed a Canadian National team game and looked forward to cheering them on in the upcoming World Cup.
Dylan attended St. Ignatius High School, making lifelong friends who will miss him dearly. He continued his education at Lakehead University finishing a B.A. in Political Science before going on to Osgoode Law School and finishing his Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2016. He successfully passed his bar exams in both Ontario and New York. Dylan began an accomplished career at Dickinson Wright LLP in civil litigation. He’s been described as a brilliant colleague, mentor and friend by those who knew him.
He had an incredible personality and spirit and was always respectful, welcoming and warm. He also worked with the Canadian Premier League for a period of time which married his love of soccer with his love of the law. Upon his return to Dickinson Wright he continued to assist sport organizations and athletes as both commercial and litigation counsel. His passion for the law also led him to begin instructing students in labour law at George Brown College.
Dylan will be missed and lovingly remembered by his fiancé, Cassidy Levine, his parents Peter and Marlene Augruso, sister Alanna Augruso (Shawn Nickerson), brother Adam Augruso (Laurel), niece and nephew Oliver and Abigail Nickerson and countless caring aunts, uncles and cousins. He also held a special place in the hearts of Michael and Sally Levine, and sister in law Samantha (Anne). He will be fondly remembered by his friends both in Thunder Bay, Toronto and around the world.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church with Rev. Luigi Filippini officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
