Earl Goodick passed away in hospital in Thunder Bay, Ontario on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at the age of 80.  Earl is predeceased by his parents, Beatrice and Lewis Goodick, sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Albert Burridge, brother Leo Goodick, father-in-law John L. Berg.

Earl is lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Marylou Goodick and his sons Adam (Sandra) Goodick and Mark Goodick, granddaughter Hannah Goodick, brother Armond (Sylvia) Goodick, mother-in-law Marie Berg, sister-in-law Jo-Anne Berg-Cromwell, brother-in-law Ken Berg and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born on January 28, 1941, in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Earl started an early career in the Canadian Oceanographic Service with the Canadian Coast Guard aboard the CCGS Hudson and CCGS Baffin. He maintained a love for the sea for his whole life however, following the birth of his sons, Earl took a job as a butcher to spend more time with his family. His job took the family from Nova Scotia to Vermilion Bay, Ontario, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and eventually Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1979.

He retired as a butcher from Canada Safeway in 2002.  An avid fisherman, Earl enjoyed fishing with friends in Thunder Bay and his nephews in Virginia.  He spent his retirement traveling to visit family in Southern Ontario, Virginia, and California. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his sister Joyce and her children in Virginia.

A resident of Castlegreen Housing Cooperative from 1996, Earl was well known and had many friends among his neighbours.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and the Cancer Clinic for the care and attention they gave Earl in his final illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends reach out to their own family members and plan a visit, family dinner, or trip as soon as Covid protocols allow.
