On May 10, 2015 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, Edith Waters left to join her many family members, and she is now in the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Family was with her when she departed from this life to begin her next adventure.

Edith was a generous and giving person who spent most of her life caring for family members and those in need within her community.  She used her nursing skills to assist both her parents and her father-in-law throughout their illnesses.

After her children were raised, she returned to school and graduated with her Registered Nursing Assistant diploma at the age of 50.  Edith participated in community organizations, such as the Women’s Institute, and she was a 4H Homemaking Group Leader for many years.  She lived her life with humble, quiet dignity, and she always made time for cooking and/or baking for others.  Respect was her main credo.

Her laughter and her enjoyment of playing games at gatherings will be sadly missed by both family and many others who came in contact with her throughout her life.  Edith was born on March 10, 1918, in Petrolia, Ontario.  She was the youngest of Henry and Phoebe (James) Clark’s 8 children.

She is predeceased by her parents and all her siblings and their spouses:  Dawson and Mary (Blair) Clark, Robert and Hazel (Burr) Clark, Charles Clark, Alfred and Christine (Clarke) Clark, Howard and Pearl (Blackman) Clark, Wallace and Mary (Coulter) Clark, Mary (Clark) and Colin Young.  Edith was married to Alfred Lorne Garrett, who passed away in 1963.

They had three children, Ronald, Wayne, and Gayle.  Later, Edith met and married Cecil Waters, who passed away in 1985.  Edith was predeceased by her two sons, Ronald and Wayne Garrett.

She is survived by her daughter, Gayle (Garrett) Feenstra, her son-in-law, Jim Feenstra, and her daughter-in-law, Ann Garrett.  Edith also leaves behind 8 grandchildren – Deanna (Jay) Van Erp, Barb (Terry) Van Erp, Sandra Zenick, Shannon Garrett, Heather (Wilfred) Vis, Cheryl (Ben) Kempenaar, Rhonda (Max) Perzan and Robert (Liisa) Feenstra, as well as 15 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 2:00-4:00pm at the Blake Funeral Chapel.  Removal will be made to Petrolia, Ontario for services and interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Edith to your favourite charity.

Edith Waters will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
