It is with sadness we announce that our mother, an eternal spring of life, has passed away on June 18th, 2021, due to natural causes at Southbridge Pinewood Nursing Home.  Born Edna Violet Rachael Hakli on March 9th, 1919, on Minnesota Street.  She was truly a miracle baby.  Pronounced as a crib death, mom defied the odds and returned to life.  I can only imagine the joy and wonderment that her parents must have felt.

After a playful childhood, mom toughed it through the 30’s attending high school at FWCI.  As WWII broke out, mom chipped into the war effort at Can-Car.  Riding her bicycle with friends to work, she built a strong healthy lifestyle that would last a century.  After the war Mom was employed at Huntsberger's and then met her husband, Gilbert.  Soon raising a family of two sons and enjoying her golden anniversary in 2003.

A nature lover, Edna relished the outdoors – camping, golf and tennis.  She was a dedicated housewife.  Mom and Dad enjoyed the rewards of retirement, travelling and relaxing in the serenity of their twilight years.  Surviving her husband, she spent her final 5 elderly years at Pinewood Nursing Home.  She had daily visitors and enjoyed the social activities.  Mom celebrated her 100th birthday party with family and friends.

Pre-deceased by her parents Ida and Alex Hakli, brother Bill, sisters Pat Erin and Gerty McNiven, nephews Kenny and Leroy.  Survived by sons Frank and Terry (Leslie), nieces Janet and Edna, granddaughters Andrea and Tina and grandson Trent.  There will be a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens on August 13th, 2021, at 2 pm.  Our parent’s wedding anniversary, together forever.  Online condolences may be made at Jenkensfuneral.ca.
