Edna Traverse

Passed away peacefully Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital with family at her side.

Edna was born in Beardmore and grew up in MacDiarmid, later, moving to Thunder Bay, Sturgeon Falls, Nipigon, and back to Thunder Bay. She met and married the love of her life Harvin Traverse (1922-2000) and they will be reunited and interned together at Rocky Bay.

Edna worked at Kemp Fisheries in Thunder Bay for many years. She made many friends along the way who will miss her and the many laughs they shared. She also enjoyed going to the Casino, listening to music & travelled with her great friend Maggie to these events. At home you would see her doing her crossword puzzles or watching funny videos on her phone. Edna felt great joy seeing her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and spending time with her great-niece Ebony and her family who called her Nana. 

Predeceased by her parents: Capt. John Hardy Sr. & Kathleen (Abisikang) Hardy; Brothers Alan (Jiggs) Hardy, Arthur (Murphy) Hardy, Gregory Hardy; Sisters Doreen Hardy, Vera Hardy; Sister-in-law Theresa (Chi-chi) Hardy; Brother-in-law Leo Hache.

Survived by her daughter Karen Hardy (Paul Ertel); Sons Pierre (Z-man) Matthew Hardy, Bart Hardy (Catherine Nobis), John Traverse, Rene Traverse (Laura Kingston). Her brothers James (Caroline), Patrick (Kathleen), Tim (Christine), John P; Sisters Brenda Hardy, Diane Hardy; Grandchildren Nicole Baxter, Troy Lynch, Lance Lynch, Alexander Hardy , Rachel Hardy, Raquel Hardy, Selena Simmons, Barty Lynch, Ryley Lynch, Navaeh Traverse, Damian Traverse, Zion Traverse, Ryder Traverse, Alex Traverse, Danny Kingston; Great-Grandchildren Chase, Hailey, Brayden, Emma, Keira, Harmony, Amara, Shanya.

Services for Edna will be at Jenkens Funeral Home on Friday, August 9th at 11:00am with Michael Robinson officiating. Internment of Edna & Harvin will follow in Rocky Bay on Monday, August 12th at 1:00pm.
