It is with profound sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Edwin “Ed” (Butch) Peter Herrington, age 77 years, at Bethammi Nursing Home on Wednesday June 15, 2022.
Edwin was born in 1944 in Picton, Ontario to Margaret and Harold Herrington. In 1966 he married the love of his life Margaret Greig, and they began their amazing life together. Ed’s fire career with the Ministry of Natural Resources lead them to many beautiful places in Canada. While stationed in Kenora their children Peggy and Glenn were born. They eventually settled and retired in Thunder Bay. Following retirement, Ed and Marg spent many winters in Florida and summers camping on Lac des Mille Lac. Ed was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. His grandchildren fondly remember spending many hours fishing, tubing, swimming, and camping. Ed was predeceased by his parents Harold and Margaret Herrington, and wife of 50 years Margaret Herrington. He will be dearly missed by his children Peggy (Gary) and Glenn (Jodi); grandchildren: Caleigh, Alexander, Jamie, Evan, and many other family and friends. He will always hold a special place in our hearts.
We thank the staff of Bethammi Nursing Home for the care and support over the last two years.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers we ask donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
