With heavy hearts we sadly announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Elaine Yvonne Arsenault on Monday, November 13, 2017.

Elaine was born in Hearst Ontario, the daughter of Hormidas and Laurence Dubeau. She was raised on the family farm on Road 8 (Melbourne Road) in McIntyre Township outside Port Arthur. She attended school at SS#1 McIntyre and SS#7. In her young adulthood she was one of the “Rosie the Riveters” employed at Hawker-Siddley in Fort William during WWll. In 1946 she married the love of her life Harvey Arsenault from Bonaventure, Quebec. Together they raised five children. Her family and her Catholic faith were her main interests. She also enjoyed playing the violin and piano in her younger years and listening to a wide variety of music.

Elaine is survived by her children Paulette (Bob) Helesic, St. Catharines, Jackie Wolfe, Vancouver, Denise (Gary) Laine, Thunder Bay, Roger (Angela) Arsenault, Thunder Bay and Lorraine (Gary) Wikander, Dryden Ontario; two sisters Hugette Simard, Atikokan, Ontario and Muriel Landry, Markstay, Ontario. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also mourn her passing. She was predeceased by her parents and husband Harvey.

The family at this time would like to thank the medical and support staff at Plaza 1 at Pioneer Ridge and the staff at the former Hilldale Gardens for the compassionate and professional care they provided Mom during her final years.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 when family and friends will gather in St. Andrew’s R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Antoni Fujarczuk. The interment of cremated remains will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Elaine’s name to St. Andrews R.C. Church or the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay. Arrangements are in care of the Sargent & Son Funeral Directors, 21 N. Court Street. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
