It is with heavy hearts that the family of Eleanor Joyce Ann Ladychuk (née Krupp), announce her peaceful passing on November 3, 2024 at the age of 90. Born on March 25, 1934 in the District of Thunder Bay, Ellie (an affectionate nickname from her father) was a cherished figure in her community and an emblem of love and devotion within her family.

Eleanor dedicated 40 years of her life to the Royal Bank of Canada beginning from the young age of 17, where her commitment and hard work left a lasting impact. Missing the opportunity in her youth, Eleanor obtained her Driver’s Licence at age 45 and purchased her first car. Outside of her professional life, Eleanor was deeply involved with family in addition to personal interests that reflected her caring and sociable nature. Eleanor enjoyed her girls’ card nights, knitting, teaching traditions to her grandchildren, and shopping at various craft markets in the city.

Eleanor re-married on January 10, 1987. The newlyweds purchased their cherished camp at Silver Lake that provided a way of spending quality bonding time with loved ones away from the distractions of everyday life.

Eleanor gained the designation of “Queen” in her Tops Weight Loss group, assuming the role of Sunshine Lady for several terms. The socialization and bonds formed with co-members of the group were dear to her and left her with warm and loving memories when she could no-longer attend meetings. Her activities at Tops allowed her to forge and nurture lasting friendships with many.

Through all the trials and tribulations life threw at her, family remained the cornerstone of Eleanor's life. She is survived by her loving daughter, Lenore Martin (Daniel), and son, Eric Johnsen (Debra). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Lindsey Johnsen, Carrie Johnsen (Mike), and Shaun Martin plus numerous additional family members. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dora Krupp, her brother Robert Krupp, her second husband, George Ladychuk, her first husband, Edward Johnsen, and her granddaughter, Nicole Martin.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the individuals for their support in making Eleanor’s journey as endurable and peaceful as possible.

In line with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. A private family interment will take place at a future date, honouring her life in a manner she desired.
