Elias was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed spending time with Aino at their summer camp at Greenpoint. Elias and Aino visited Finland several times over the years, and maintained close contact with his relatives, with frequent visits from his Finnish relatives to Thunder Bay.
Elias was predeceased by his wife Aino in 2012, parents Vaino and Vieno Siirila and brother Esko. Elias will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters Matti, Hilppa, Aarto, Viljo, Helvi, Reetta and Timo. Survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives in Finland.
Due to current gathering restrictions, Funeral Services for Elias will be held privately for family in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre on Friday, January 22, 2021 presided by Rev. Jari Lahtinen. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Elias’s memory to the Hilldale Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay.
