Elsie Aino Kallio, born Jan 16, 1928, peacefully left us to be with her Lord, on Friday, October 29, 2021.
Elsie, first born of John and Aino Oksanen, was raised on a farm in South Gillies with 12 siblings. Her formal schooling ended in Grade 5 when her twin brothers Ray and Ron were born, but she continued to grow and learn while she helped at home, worked at the South Gillies Farmers Mercantile and as Cookee in local bush camps.
She settled into the life she loved as a wife, mother, church member and worker. She loved the Lord, her family and friends, her country life, fun times with plenty of laughter, travel adventures and especially their camp at Pete¹s Lake. She was a gentle quiet soul, immensely proud of all her family.
Elsie was predeceased by her parents, husband Stanley Jacobson, daughter and son-in-law Linda and Charles Guitard, son Greg Jacobson, infant grandson Robert Johnson, in-laws Toivo & Vienno Jacobson, Richard and Taimi Kallio, brothers Ilmar, Leo and Ray Oksanen, sisters Lily Benderite and Verna Johnson, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Left with vast emptiness in their hearts are Elsie¹s husband of 48 years, Arnold Kallio, her children and grandchildren: daughter Janet Jacobson and Steven (Jessica) Johnson, Jessica (Murray) MacRae; son Doug (Lori) and Chelsey (Carson); daughter Tracey (Dwight) Winters and Jennifer (Matt) Gehrlein, Billy and Jacob Winters; grand daughter Michelle Guitard, grandsons Mike (Michelle) Guitard, Wayne (Marissa) Guitard, 16 beautiful, handsome and talented great grandchildren.
Elsie is also survived by her brothers Ron, William (Monica) and Robert (Betty) Oksanen, her sisters Maimi Matson, Helmi Morris, Irene Enders, Diane Atwood, sister-in-law Noreen Batson, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Beverly and Roy Niemi, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Kakabeka Falls, 11 a.m. Friday, November 12th, with Rev. Brian Falkenholt officiating, followed by internment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
