<p> Mrs Elsie Nystrom passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre following a short illness.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Born Aug. 16, 1934, near Vita, Manitoba, she moved to Geraldton in the late 1940&#39;s and then to Port Arthur in 1951 where she met her future husband Leo Nystrom. They were married in December 1953 &amp; spent 58 wonderful years together.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Elsie worked as a trained bookkeeper for numerous companies including Headway Construction and then for her son, Bryan for the last 31 years.&nbsp; Her greatest joy in life was her family.&nbsp; Always generous with her loving care, she cherished every moment as &quot;Nana&quot; to her grandsons Matthew &amp; Michael &amp; with her favourite feline &quot;Sylvester.&quot;<br /> <br /> She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Elsie enjoyed country music &amp; made numerous trips over the years with Leo to watch various country artists.&nbsp; She also enjoyed bowling &amp; card games with friends.&nbsp; Her bookkeeping skills translated into an interest to try her hand at casino games giving her &amp; Leo an excuse to travel.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her husband Leo, son Dr. Bryan Nystrom (Irma), grandsons Matthew &amp; Michael &amp; brother &amp; sister-in-law Erick &amp; Bonnie Nystrom.&nbsp; She was predeceased by her parents Lena &amp; George Andrusyk.<br /> <br /> A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8 th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of theSargent &amp; Son Funeral Home with Pastor Jari Lahtinen officiating.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Cremation has taken place and a private interment service will be held at a later date.&nbsp;&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the TBRHS Foundation-Northern Cancer Fund.&nbsp; On-line condolences may be made at <a href="http://www.sargentandson.com/" target="_blank">http://www.sargentandson.com/</a>.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> logo&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
