Mrs. Emilia “Magda” Pimenow, passed away peacefully at Dawson Court on Thursday, January 7, 2015, at the age of 89. Born on February 11, 1926, in Betliar, Czechoslovakia, she came to Canada with her mother and her sister, Irene, in 1947.
That same year, she met and married Alexander Pimenow.
Magda worked for various retail stores in Thunder Bay south until her retirement. She loved to knit, crochet, garden, and bake, displaying her handicrafts during the C.L.E., and for years participated at the Folklore Festival. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for six decades, volunteering there for numerous activities, especially cooking and making pirohy.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alex, in September, 1970, her parents, John and Emilia Stolec of Oliver Road, and her sister, Irene Zadkovich in 2008. She is survived by her son, John (Katherine), and her daughter, Suzan, grandson, Kyle, her nephew and niece, Dan (Donna) Zadkovich and Sonja (Michael) Nurse, and her brother-in-law, John Zadkovich, as well as relatives in Slovakia, Russia, and the United States.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pimenow will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Jenkens Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers and if friend so desire, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or to Trinity Lutheran Church would be greatly appreciated.
