Mrs. Emilienne Labonte (Dube), age 83, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2023 at the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital with family by her side.

Emilienne was born March 14, 1940 in Packington, Quebec. She married Normand Labonte in 1956 and together they had 6 children. She loved gardening and was an amazing cook and baker. A few years after her husbands passing, she was fortunate enough to meet and fall in love with our “Papa Ed”. She spent her last 28 years with papa, taking care of each other and enjoying life together. They truly were the best of friends and the best partners for each other.

Emilienne will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her partner Edward Quint; her children: Denise (Guy) Labonte, Gerard Labonte, Diane (Ron) Labonte, Gerald (Carmen) Labonte, Armande (Jason) Labonte, Roger (Tammy) Labonte; grandchildren: April (John Marc) Albert, Emily (Eric) Albert, Samantha Labonte, Denis Labonte, Kim Labonte, Sylvie Labonte, Shantay Labonte, Stephanie (Brandon) Labonte, Janet (Patrick) Belisle, Noella (Harold) Labonte and Angela Labonte; brothers Gerard and Rosaire; sister Camilla; as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by husband Normand Labonte, mother Salva St-Pierre, father Eugene Dube, brothers Jean-Paul, Adrien and Jean-Baptiste, sisters Rita, Stella, Gisele, Laura and Camille.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion during Emilienne’s last days. Also, a special thank you to Carolyn Antaya and John Paakkunainen for their help and support for the family. Much appreciation to Pastor Jeremy Hetz of the Nipigon Baptist Church for his support and prayers during this difficult time.

As per Emilienne’s wishes, cremation has taken place and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will take place on Monday, May 29, 2023 in Cliffside Cemetery in Nipigon at 1:00 pm.
