It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mrs. Enerina Falvo at her home on February 27, 2024, with her family at her side.

Enerina Falvo (nee Ferriolo) was born on November 16, 1932 in Malito, Cosenza Italy.

During her teenage years in Italy, Nerina consistently stood beside her mother, assisting in cooking and baking bread for the family. Known for their passion for singing, dancing, and embracing life to its fullest, Nerina and her sisters were cherished for their vibrant spirits.

Nerina arrived in Canada at the age of 21, where she quickly encountered a dashing young man and the love of her life, Mario Falvo. Shortly thereafter, Nerina and Mario tied the knot, and together they welcomed four children: Dino, Mary, Irene, and Susanna. For the ensuing years, Mom and Dad were steadfast companions, sharing their lives and endeavors until Mario's passing in 1990.

Despite grappling with the loss, Mom pressed on, guided by her gentle spirit, infectious laughter, and affectionate demeanor. Nurturing her now sizable family with homemade meals and finding solace in the winter retreat to Naples, Florida became the cornerstones of her contented life.

Nerina found immense joy in upholding the Italian traditions of crafting sausages, preparing tomato sauce, bottling wine, and baking homemade bread, which she generously shared with others. The echoes of laughter, warm embraces, and affectionate kisses, combined with the assurance that her loved ones would consistently experience happiness and good health, constituted the source of her greatest satisfaction.

Nerina will be lovingly remembered by her children Dino (Monika), Mary (Sandy) Lockwood, Irene (Ed) Maidment and Sue (Darryl Landry) Redmond. Grandchildren Christopher (Ghiesel) Lockwood, Matthew Falvo, Justine (Dan) Delin, Carolann Lockwood, Amanda Redmond, Zachary Maidment and Maxwell Redmond. Also left to miss Nerina and their shared times together and visits are numerous nieces and nephews here and the Ferriolo and Arena families remaining in Italy.

Also remaining to mourn are Frank Falvo and Teresa Pearce and their children, Lynda Falvo-Miller (Wayne), John Falvo (Shelly), David Falvo, Frankie Falvo, and Laura Carolan.

Nerina's passing was preceded by that of her parents Pasquale and Maria Ferriolo, her husband Mario Falvo, and her siblings Lidia Arena, Vanda Ferriolo, Nerida Ferriolo, Ida Arena, Emma Bellomusto, Gina Mancini, Antonietta Laudone, Tommaso Ferriolo, Alberto Ferriolo, and Amerigo Ferriolo. Also predeceased by a grandson, Mike Carolan.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Cremation has taken place and a Service and Mass for Enerina will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at St. Dominic Parish, 130 Redwood Ave. W., Thunder Bay ON, immediately followed by light refreshments at the church. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in St. Andrew's Cemetery at a later date.

The Falvo family wishes to express a genuine and heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Pioneer Ridge for their exceptional care of Nerina in recent months. Specifically, the individuals who frequent the hallways of Plaza 1 will be forever in our memories for the professional care and compassionate, generous love they showered upon our Mother.
