The family of Eugenio announces with great sadness, the passing of their beloved Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. He went peacefully at Roseview Manor on Friday September 7th, 2018.

He was born on October 29th, 1923 in Mangone, Calabria, Italy. He married Teresina Berardi on July 10, 1949 and immigrated to Port Arthur with his brother Giovanni in March 1950. Our Dad was first employed on the Welch gang repairing rail lines and later was hired on with C.N. Rail, where he worked until his retirement, after 35 years of service.

He joined the Italian Society of Port Arthur in 1961 and was a lifelong member. He enjoyed many afternoons’ playing cards with his buddies there.

Dad took pride in his garden and enjoyed watching things grow. He always claimed he had the nicest yard in Thunder Bay.

He also enjoyed shopping for bargains and taking his daily walk to the Salvation Army store on Red River Road.
Eugenio will be missed and remembered by his four loving children; Tony (Nancy), Fran Morrison (Mike), Lorenzo (Riitta) and Mary Franklin (Todd). Grandchildren; Marcie, Ryan, Miranda, Kimberly, Vanessa and Chelsea. Great Grandchildren; Tristan, Karter, Austin, Megyn, Conner, Sofie, Rowan, Kali and Baby D, soon to arrive. Sister Rosina Nicoletti from Torino, Italy, brothers and sisters in-law Giovanni and Carmelina, Alfredo and Bev, Mario and Maria, Eva and numerous nieces and nephews. A special Thank You to our cousin Mary DiSimone for all the time she spent visiting our Dad. We know he enjoyed that time with her.

He was predeceased by his loving wife is Teresina of 67 years on May 2nd, 2016. Also by his parents Maria and Antonio, sister Raffaela (Antonio), brother Giovanni (Clotilda), brother-in-law Irdo, mother-in-law Rosina and father-in-law Eugenio, in-laws Giacinto (Lydia), Piero, nephew Dante and niece Teresa.

Funeral Mass for the late Eugenio Serravalle will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, 123 Hilldale Road, celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini. Interment to follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on the evening of Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre where vigil prayers will begin at 7:00 p.m.
If family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Eugenio’s honour to the Thunder Bay Chapters of the Alzheimer’s Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association.

Our Dad lived a good long life, and you can’t ask for anything more than that. When we hear whistling, we'll know that he is still with us.

 Rest in Peace Pappa
