It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of their beautiful “Friend/Partner/Wife” (55yrs); a “Wonderful Mother” (50yrs); and a “Warm and Supporting Grandmother” (19yrs) of Evelyn Ann Chornopski (Nee Bobbie). In spite of her strength, determination, power and fight, along with a powerful supporting team of Specialists, Doctors, Practitioners, Nurses, Caregivers and friends, she lost her courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the TBRHSC, 7:00 p.m. with her family by her side.

Evelyn was born on January 20, 1942, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was raised and grew up with her railroad family in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. Following her High School graduation, she returned to Winnipeg and enrolled with the Business College in the fields of Stenography/Clerical/Office Management programs. Upon gaining her certification, she returned to Sioux Lookout and entered employment with The Hudson Bay Company. Thereafter, she joined the team with the local Ford Motor Dealership as Clerk and Front Office Receptionist. She soon joined the Ontario Government (with the then Dept. of Lands and Forests) as District Foresters Secretary and Section Management. It was here that Evelyn met and married the love of her life Ralph Chornopski who was recently transferred to the Sioux as the District Forestry Technician. Together, and over the years, they were blessed with two children and partook with positional transfers involving five cities across the province. Evelyn was totally devoted to her family, her pride and joy in life…in fact, according to Ralph, she brought the family up, not him. She loved to cook and sew and enjoyed the many friends and neighbours she shared her cooking with. She also enjoyed the outdoors…working on her flower beds, walking the family dog(s), camping and fishing. Ironically, being allergic to fish and seafood, she would be the first to go fishing and jump into the boat.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents (Steve and Nellie Bobbie), her brother (David), mother-in-law (Sophie Chornopski), sister-in-law and husband (Pat and Bert Dandeneau), along with numerous uncles and aunts.

She leaves behind her husband (Ralph), daughter (Carolyn-Vancouver), son (Darren-Calgary) and two grandchildren (Noah and Marisa-Calgary). The family have respected Evelyn’s wishes in that cremation has taken place, and there will be no services. The family will have a private gathering at a future date. For those who wish and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Northern Cancer Fund.

Evelyn Chornopski will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 9, 2019.
