It is with deep sadness the family of Evelyn Fogolin announces the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother. Evelyn passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center on Friday May 29, 2015 surrounded by loving family.

Evelyn was born in Cordenons, Italy on October 24, 1924 to Francesco and Irma Scian and came to Canada at the age of 23 in 1948.

Just before arriving in Fort William she met Elio Fogolin who would soon become the love of her life. She soon found work as a seamstress at Chapples Department Store. She married Elio in August 1950, and together they raised their five children.

Evelyn was a gentle, soft-spoken, humble woman who dedicated her life to her family. It was this devotion that inspired her to perfect her love for cooking, sewing and gardening. After becoming a Nonna, this legacy continued and her grandchildren became her pride and joy.

Her faith, strength and determination helped her overcome all of life’s challenges.

Evelyn lived a very full and productive life and was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew and loved her.

She will be greatly missed by her children Louisa (Dennis) Johnson, Frank (Janet) Fogolin of Port Colborne, David (Anni) Fogolin of Caledon, Vivian (Tom) Best of Toronto and Lisa (Stephen) Wojciechowski. Nonna will always hold a special place in the hearts of her grandchildren Eleanor and Arlen Fogolin, Alexandra, Anthony and Arissa Fogolin, Alexandra Best, Madison, Meaghan and Miranda Wojciechowski. She will be fondly remembered by sister-in-law Agnes Martin, Buffalo NY, brother-in-law Bap Fogolin and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, in-laws Antonio and Luigia Fogolin, brother-in-law Norman Martin and sister-in-law Joanne Fogolin. Visitation will be held at the Blake Funeral Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Parish Prayers in the Blake Funeral Chapel on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.. To love a Mother and then to part
Is the greatest trial of the human heart
Years of caring, little of play,
Loving and giving all the way
A cherished smile, a heart of gold
To the dearest Mother the world could hold
Beautiful memories are treasured ever
Of happy days when were together
With aching hearts we whisper love
God bless you Mom and Nonna
Rest in peace, we love you so.

Evelyn Fogolin will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
