Evelyn Kerr

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Joyce Kerr, on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the TBRHSC. She enjoyed a healthy life until the age of 92 years. 

Joyce was the first woman lighthouse keeper’s assistant in Canada and in later years lived on many lighthouses, including the main light with her late husband of 51 years Alexander (Alex) Kerr. 
Joyce will also be fondly remembered at the RR#11 “Mail Lady” from which she retired in 1989. She was an avid golfer, loved baking and enjoyed visiting her family in Western Canada. 

Joyce will be sadly missed by her 3 children: Donald Kerr of Thunder Bay, ON, Deborah Kerr of Westbank, BC, and Dianna (Terry) Kinnunen of Peachland, BC; her 4 grandchildren: Christopher, Ryan, Chrystal and Oliver of Calgary, AB and Kailen Kinnunen of Peachland, BC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

Cremation has taken place, as per Joyce’s wishes there will be no formal funeral. A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at a later date.
