Mrs. Evelyn Mina, age 88 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 16, 2022 at TBRHSC.
Born in Fort William to Maria and Stefano Bortolon, she met and married Roy Mina on July 14, 1956. She worked part time for a number of local businesses and then devoted her time to her family. She loved spending time in the kitchen baking for family and friends, and even had her own cookbook that is consulted regularly to uphold family traditions. She was the President of the Ladies Venet Society and a long-time member of St. Agnes Church, the CWL, Famee Furlane, and Trevisani Nel Mondo.
She is survived by her children Marianne Schoales (Clyde), Rob (Lisa), Ron (Rita-Mom’s special angel), Donna Webb (Mark). Her grandchildren Tyler, Landon, Mallory, Vanessa, Jordan, Jessica, Kirstin, Ashleigh. Her great grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Roy of 52 years, her sisters Lena Sylvester and Ida Wilson, and her brother Joe Bortolon. Special thanks to Ron, Rita, and Jessica for their love and constant support. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Agnes Church at 10:00 am on Wednesday June 22, 2022, with visitation one hour prior. Private family interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery. Service will be live streamed on the St. Agnes Church Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation.
