Mr. Ferdinando (Freddy) Genovese, aged 79 years, passes away peacefully with his loving wife and family at his side on Saturday, August 25, 2018, in the TBRHSC.  Freddy was born on March 6, 1939 to Joseppinia and Andrea Genovese in Risigliano, Naples, Italy.  In 1952, the family emigrated to Fort William, Ontario where Freddy attended local schools. 

Freddy worked at Dresswell Drycleaners, B & B Stone and Dawson Drycleaners.  Freddy enjoyed gardening, making tomato sauce, preserving a variety of vegetables and fruits, making sausages, other cured meats and wine.  He enjoyed travelling to Italy, playing cards, Bocce Ball, bowling, soccer, music, playing the accordian, fishing and hunting.  Freddy was a member of the St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Knights of Columbus  1447, Italian Cultural Centre and Da Vinci Centre.

Freddy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years (August 24, 1968) Rosa, brother Tony (Christina) and family, godson Tony Circelli (Michelle), cousins Melinia Schiavoni and family, Maria Nucci and family, brother-in-law Antonio Berardesca (Italy) and other family members in Italy and the United States.  Freddy was predeceased by his parents Joseppinia and Andrea Genovese, Vincenzo Berardesca (brother-in-law), Danny Nucci (cousin) and other family members in Italy.

As per Freddy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date.  Funeral Mass for Freddy will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 2:00pm in the St. Patrick's Cathedral, with Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. officiating.  If friends desire, memorials to the St. Patrick’s Cathedral would be greatly appreciated.

Ferdinando Genovese will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 9, 2019.
