Mrs. Florida Patricia Green (nee Linklater) passed away peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2016 just shy of her 77th birthday with her loving daughter by her side at the Roseview Manor.
Florida was born on April 25, 1939 in Port Arthur, Ont. to parents James and Mary Linklater. Florida married the love of her life Donald Green at the age of 17 and they shared 10 short years together before his passing in 1967.
Florida worked for many years as a dispatcher in the taxi business, until she was forced to retire for health reasons. She was a social person who was always up for a card game or just a visit. She loved to sing and did so for many years with the Sweet Adeline’s and with the choir at the Calvin Presbyterian Church. She was very fond of animals, especially her cats Coco and Misha as well as her grand doggie Tessa.
Mum’s home for the last 9 years was Roseview Manor on Shuniah Street. She would often comment on how well she was taken care of and all of the many friendships she had developed there.
Many thanks to all who faithfully visited with Mum over the years and to the caretakers at Roseview Manor. Special thanks to Patricia Renaud & Jane Weinrauch for stepping in and helping for many years, just like daughters. Thanks also to Doreen Wilson, who passed a month prior to Mum for her faithful visiting and friendship. We are sure Doreen had the tea ready when Mum arrived in Heaven.
Florida will be lovingly missed by her daughter Donna (Roger) Lemieux. She was predeceased by her husband Donald Matthew Green, by her parents James and Mary Linklater and by her brothers James (Bud) and Robert.
A celebration of Florida’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 in the Chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 21 North Court Street with Rev. Ken Haggerty of Calvin Presbyterian Church presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com
