Fortunata Bruno

Mrs. Fortunata Bruno (nee Caputo) age 91 years of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday February 24, 2018.

Fortunata was born in Grimaldi, Cosenza, Italy on January 28, 1927.

She married Giovanni in 1947 and later followed him to Canada in October of 1956 along with her daughter Maria. They soon after had their son Joe in 1957. Fortunata was a devoted wife, mother, nana and friend to all who knew her. She loved having daily telephone conversations to keep up with family and friends near and far. She was also a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Women's League and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking bread and making sure everyone was happy and well fed.
She always put the needs of others ahead of her own.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Joe (Donna), grandchildren Faith, Kristen and Jillian. Fortunata is survived by her sister Luisa (Paulo) Pagnotta in Italy, and by her numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Fortunata was pre-deceased by her husband Giovanni, daughter Maria, sisters Maria and Esterina, and her parents Gennarino and Gilda Caputo.

Visitation will be held on Thursday March 1st, 2018 at Harbourview Funeral Centre from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, 123 Hilldale Rd. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini at 11:00 a.m.

Entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow at Harbourview Funeral Centre.
