The family of the late Francoise Florence Ratz (nee Blais) announce her peaceful passing after a long and persistent illness on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Francis, as she was known to most, was a caring wife, mother and sister loved by her family and her friends. Her tenacity during adversity was exemplary and her healthy view of life was demonstrated by her actions. She was passionately devoted to those she loved dearly.

She was honest and kind to all those she met while talking about her faith. As her family, we feel privileged to have assisted her in her final days. Her dedication to us will be missed but fondly memorized. Her sense of humor will become legendary and her courage will impel us to imitate her integrity. As friends, we will fondly recall her strong faith and the fearless certainty of her beliefs as one of Jehovah’s Witness. The many people she touched will remember her positive message of hope.

She is survived by her husband Gordon, by her daughters – Claire Gagnon (& Michel) of Longlac, Lauri Schaaf (& Alan) of Dorion, her son Denis St-Pierre (& Merlin) of Thunder Bay, by her brother Jean Veilleux (& Johanne) of Ottawa, her sister Anne Strey (& Pat) of Calgary. Her grandchildren Alexandra Gagnon of Longlac, Jesse, Jewel and Jaden Schaaf of Dorion grieve for her as do her nephew Joel Veilleux (& Andrea) of Hamilton and her nieces, Killi Veilleux of Ottawa and Mackenzie Strey of Calgary.

According to Francis and Gordon's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1034 Oliver Rd, Thunder Bay, Ontario
