My name is Frank Douglas Brown. I was born in Sudbury, Ontario in 1936 to Hannah and Doug Brown. I was raised in Levack, Sudbury before attending Lakehead Technical Institute in Port Arthur in 1955. I completed a Forestry Course in 1959.
I began my working career at the Port Arthur Fire Department in 1960 and later became the Superintendent of Parks & Recreation. My work involved the development and construction of Centennial Park, including the expansion of the Trowbridge Falls campgrounds, which have been a
mainstay in Thunder Bay ever since. My last position was as General Manager of the Parking Authority following the amalgamation of Port Arthur and Fort William. In this role I developed several new parking lots and a parkade. My greatest accomplishment was being the Founding President of the Canadian Parking Association, which grew to over 200 members. I retired from my regular work in 1992 and served as a school crossing guard for 15 years.
I was a longtime member of the Port Arthur Kinsmen Club and will miss the great bunch of guys in that group.
I was predeceased by my wives Donna Brown and Dooley Brown. I leave behind a great family and many friends: my sons, Chuck (Earlene) Brown, David (Teresa) Brown. Stepchildren Murray (Connie) McLeod, Michael McLeod, Donald (Rhonda) McLeod, Lynda (Rob) Roussel, as well as 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren!
I married Lorna Faulkner on July 20, 2022 and we were fortunate to enjoy a life filled with extensive travel. Lorna has three children and three grandchildren.
I have had a good life and would not trade it for anything. I left this life on July 31, 2025 to go on a different adventure. I have no idea where, but I hope to see you there one day. Go Leafs Go!
Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 1 – 4pm at the Current River Recreation Centre.
