Frank Marshall Jollimore

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad and papa. Frank Marshall Jollimore, aged 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 1st, 2021, with his family by his side.

Frank was born on September 24th, 1939, in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Herman and Evelyn Jollimore. Frank met the love of his life Rachael (Rae) Malay. They dated for a few years and got married on July 10th, 1965.

Frank’s work with Mutual Life of Canada moved him and Rachael to Kingston, Ontario in 1965. In October 1966 they welcomed their first son, Glenn, to the family. After a second work related move to Sault Ste. Marie, in November 1969 they welcomed their second son Mark to the family.
After moving to Hamilton, Ontario, in November 1974 they welcomed their daughter Janice to complete their family. Work would eventually move Frank and his family to Thunder Bay, Ontario where Frank and his family called home.

Frank’s career in life insurance and financial planning was all about helping others. Even after retirement, Frank kept helping others in a variety of ways. He was an avid volunteer for many local charitable organizations, like United Way Thunder Bay, Heart and Stroke, Arthritis Society, Salvation Army, Cancer Society and the Knights of Columbus. Up until his health allowed, Frank could be seen at many local fundraisers, canvassing door to door for donations and staffing the Salvation Army kettle at Christmas time. In fact, last year Frank was still helping seniors complete and file their income taxes.
Frank was a devote Catholic, member and usher at Corpus Christi Church, one of the founding members of the Knights of Columbus Council #9295 and a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Baxter 4th degree assembly. Frank would always be at 9am Sunday mass helping seat parishioners, helping with collection, handing out the weekly bulletins and handing out high 5s to all the small children.

As the old saying goes, you can take someone away from Nova Scotia, but their heart will always remain in Nova Scotia. After leaving Nova Scotia, Frank and Rachael looked forward to their annual summer drive back to Nova Scotia, even with all three kids until the kids grew older. Frank and Rachael enjoyed driving and viewing Canada’s beautiful nature and exploring quaint towns and cities along the Canadian and US east coast. They thoroughly enjoyed visiting and reconnecting with their Nova Scotia family and friends.

Frank leaves behind his true love, best friend and wife of 56 years Rachael, his children Glenn, Janice (Paul) Coccimiglio, brother Raymond and his wife Liz, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wilfred and Ida Dillman and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Nova Scotia. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten, by his granddaughters Allisa Jollimore (Ryan) and Jane Coccimiglio, who loved their Papa tremendously. He was their biggest supporter and fan in everything that they did. His generosity and kindness toward others will live through them both. He will also be deeply missed by his furry buddy Rocky.

You would often see Frank with his nose in a book, swimming early each morning at Volunteer Pool when his health allowed, reading the daily local paper at McDonalds and in the summer months listening to his favourite country music in the backyard. Frank enjoyed his daily walks with his furry friend Rocky and looked forward to his daily coffee date with his friend Gilles (thanks Gilles).

Frank is predeceased by his parents Herman and Evelyn, his son Mark, brothers Herman, Keith, Norman, Blaine, sisters Sandra, Helen, Dot, Betty and brother-in-law John.

The family of Frank Jollimore would like to thank the nurses, doctors and specialists at both the Toronto General Hospital ICU and the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital ICU for their care and kindness towards Frank over the last several weeks. Thank-you to Dr. Slivchak for her medical care of Frank over the years. Frank’s family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all of their family and friends who took time to call and reach out over the past several weeks to see how Frank was doing.

Funeral Services for the late Frank Jollimore will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral with Msgr. P.M. Stilla, V.G. officiating. Those wishing to attend the Mass will require proof of full vaccination along with proper identification. Those unable to attend the services are invited to go the Sargent & Son Facebook Page where a livestream of the service will be available to view. A private family interment to follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with vigil prayers beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 8, 2021, in the Chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s honor would be greatly appreciated to either the United Way Thunder Bay or the Thunder Bay District Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.

Rest in peace Frank, Dad and Papa. Please continue to look after and watch over us from heaven above. You will always be in our hearts, because in there you are still alive and you were the one that always had a big heart.

Love Rachael, Glenn, Janice, Paul, Jane and Allisa
