It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell to our beloved husband, father, papa, and iso papa Fred, who passed away peacefully on January 13th, 2018 at the age of 83.

Fred married the love of his life Mabel in July of 1958 and had 3 children. They resided in Pearson Township, now Neebing, for 56 years and then moved to Thunder Bay. He worked in bush operations and got to retire at a young age. Fred loved his fishing and hunting, and really enjoyed all the years of camping that he got to spend with his nine grandchildren at Clearwater Lake. Iso Papa adored all 15 great grandchildren and it always warmed his heart with their visits.

Fred is survived by loving wife Mabel (nee Oinonen) of 59 years; sons: Darcy and Darren; daughter Shelley Robinson (Stephen); grandchildren: Jamie (Adriane), Michele (Pierre), Charlie, Micole (Dan), Taimi (Justin), Tamara (Neil), Kaija (Simon), Meghan (Dustin), and Dallas (Mandy); and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings: Art, Ken (Jean), Anne, Irma (Clyde), Arlene Maxwell and husband; sisters-in-law: Verna Hagberg and Liala Oinonen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents Charles and Tyyne Hagberg; brothers: Charles, Leonard, and Walter; and sisters: Bertha Pudas and Helen Martunen.

Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the comforting staff at the TBRHSC Stroke Unit.

Funeral Services for Fred will take place in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, presided by Rev. Nancy Ringham. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Unit of the charity of choice.
