With heavy hearts and deep sorrows, the family of Gabriel Dukarich, age 86, announce his passing away on Tuesday March 3rd at his home with his loving wife beside him.

Gabriel was born in Croatia and he came to Canada in 1951.  He worked in the bush camp at Marathon Camp Stevens. While in Fort William, he met his future wife, Lorraine Olinski in 1953 and they were married in 1955.  Gabriel also worked at Doran’s Brewery as Brewmaster till it closed, then went to work for the Lakehead Board of Education until his retirement in 1993.

Gabriel was a lifetime member of St Peter’s Roman Catholic Church. He always had a smile on his face and was always helping others. He loved his family, gardening, meeting his friends at the mall for coffee, his trips to the casino, watching hockey games and wrestling on TV, as well as watching Thunderwolves hockey at Fort William Gardens. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and all the activities they participated in.

Gabriel will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lorraine, sons George (Marg), Steve (Lori), and daughter Lori Bergeron (Denis) of Burlington, ON, grandchildren Michael Dukarich (Candice and son Mark), Jamie Dukarich  (Jill), Ashley and Justin Bergeron. Great grandchildren Peyton and Easton Stirrett as well as numerous nieces and nephews will all miss him.

Gabriel was predeceased by his parents, brothers, sister, cousin Bill Dukaric, and granddaughter Jennifer Stirrett in 2012.

Visitation will be at Blake Funeral Chapel from 2 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday, March 11. Family will be present from 7 pm to 9 pm with prayers at 8 pm.  Cremation will follow with private family interment at a later time.

If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.

Gabriel Dukarich will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
