It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Gail Beerthuizen announce her passing on June 16, 2025, at the age of 86 at Pinewood – Kingfisher with her daughters by her side.
Mom was born in Fort William, Ontario on April 16, 1939. She met the love of her life Ries, in the O’Connor schoolhouse. They married in 1963 and spent more than 60 years together. Mom taught for over 10 years before discovering her true love, being a mother. She loved baking, hosting dinners and parties and music. Her answer to sleeping or working out problems was baking. We would often awake to dozens of cookies hot from the oven before breakfast.
Mom leaves behind her loving daughters, Kerilyn and Christy (Mike) and grandchildren Branden and Jada. We will all miss her laugh, her stories, and her larger-than-life presence.
A special thank you to the staff of Pinewood for their support and compassion. Also, a thank you to all of the doctors, nurses and health care workers who took care of mom over the years.
As per her wishes, a private family celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
