It is with great sadness that the family of Gail Dick (nee Barrie) announce her passing on July 15, 2022. Gail was predeceased by her parents Josephine and Stewart Barrie.
Gail was born on February 22, 1972 at Port Arthur General Hospital, Thunder Bay, Ontario and was a member of Northwest Angle 33 First Nation. Gail attended Claude E. Garton and Lakeview High School. The friends she made during elementary school years still remained a part of her life.
She enjoyed cooking for her family, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her fur-babies. Starting at a young age, Gail enjoyed listening to all types of music, new and old, but she will forever be our “Metal Queen”. Gail had an amazing sense of humour and always brought joy to those around her. Always offered a helping hand to those that needed it.
Gail enjoyed her work with Nishnawbe Aski Nation, working toward the betterment of indigenous communities in the area. She was passionate about LGBTQ2 rights as well as an advocate for animal welfare and proudly supported The Thunder Bay District Humane Society and Northern Critters in Need.
Gail is survived by and will be dearly missed by her husband Jeremy and her loving children Kaya and Kyler Smith. As well as her sister Irene (Rene) Taylor, and her brothers Stewart Barrie and Stan (Melanie) Barrie, along with her many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and a private ceremony will be held at later date.
