Posted

Gail McEachern age 70,  passed away early Saturday morning, October 3, 2015 with family at her side in Hogarth-Riverview Manor. She was born December 8, 1944 in Finnmark near Thunder Bay. She met her husband Joe at the Fort William Ski Club in 1959 and married him in 1963. By that time she earned her life long nickname of "Clancey". She was a fun loving Finlander with a beautiful smile and enough patience to stay married to Joe for 52 years. They were enjoying life until Alzheimer's changed it six years ago.

She was a Life Member of the Fort City Kinettes. Her life was full of travel with tent trailers, motor homes and motorcycles. There was travel by air, car, and lots of boating. Many family trips to BC, Nova Scotia, Arizona, Florida and other places. She often said, "I saw North America through a car window". Clancey enjoyed fishing, cooking, dancing, bingo and casinos! She had great Canada Day and Boxing Day parties at times hosting a hundred or more.

Survived by Joe, their five children, and thirteen grandchildren (ages nine to twenty six): Tammy McEachern Hughes & Warren - Sean (Vancouver); Rick McEachern & Leslie - Carter, Calvin, Angela (T Bay); Tracey-Gay McEachern - Keyl, Hayden (T Bay); Karen McDonald & Jory - Victoria, Jaren, Rachel, Samantha (Courtice); Scott McEachern & Larissa - Jayden, Devin, Mitchell (Mississauga). All will be in attendence.

She is survived by her six siblings: Peggy Dromisky, Stan (T Bay); Shirley Hill, Mike (Winnipeg); Beverly Simms, Ted (North Bay); Dave Stenback, Eileen (Windsor); Danny Stenback (T Bay); Debbie Cancelliere, Ed (T Bay).

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 18, 2015 in the Victoria Inn Embassy Ballroom beginning at 1:00 p.m. Please bring only good stories and memories of happy events in Clancey's life, as she was a generous, fun loving lady who would enjoy humour in the celebration.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Society or The Salvation Army.
