It is with profound sadness that her family announces the passing of Mrs Gale Bjorkstedt, age 87 years, who passed away peacefully on Friday January 28, 2022 at Hogarth Riverview Manor.

Gale grew up in Murillo and later moved to Port Arthur when she married the love of her life, Gilbert, her husband of 47 years. Gale loved spending time with her family and friends, especially family events, camping trips and the annual family golf tournament. She was also a very active member of St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church for many years serving with the ACW and Altar Guild.

Gale will be missed by her children, Cathy Maki (Jim) of Thunder Bay, Stephen (Darlene) of Thunder Bay and Mark (Aileen) of Ottawa: her grandchildren: Erin of Calgary, Jaclyn (Darryl) of Thunder Bay, Holly (Travis) of Thunder Bay, and Lynnea (Justin) of Thunder Bay; and great grandchildren: Carra and William of Calgary, Wyatt and Hudson of Thunder Bay and Liam of Thunder Bay: her brother Bob Ellett (Rose Marie) of Florida, and sister Jane Castonguay of Thunder Bay. Gale will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Gale was predeceased by her husband Gilbert, her parents George and Frances Ellett, her sister-in-law Ethel Deakin, sister Anne and brother-in-law Clifford Berini, and brother-in-law John Castonguay.

According to Gale’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday February 4th, 2022 at St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, 675 Red River Rd., officiated by Archdeacon Deborah Kraft at 11:00 a.m. A private interment of ashes will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Gale’s memory to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation Northern Cardiac Fund or St. Joseph’s Foundation of Thunder Bay, or a charity of choice.

Special thanks to Dr H. McLean and the outstanding staff on 4 North at Hogarth. Your kindness, care and compassion will be forever remembered.
