Gary Thomas Millard passed away surrounded by family on July 28, 2024, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Born on May 13, 1956, in Little Longlac, Gary's love for the outdoors was evident from his earliest days. His smile was infectious, and his laughter will be heard forever echoing through the Northern Ontario wilderness.
In 1978, Gary began his career at Abitibi-Price Inc. paper mill until it closed its doors in 2005. The many friendships Gary formed remain unbroken - a testament to his loyalty and the deep respect he garnered from those around him.
Gary's life was one marked by an undeniable love for nature. He found solace and joy in the great outdoors, often venturing into the wilderness to camp with his family. The thrill of riding dirt bikes and quadding through the rugged landscapes of Northern Ontario, and the long highway rides on his Harley, provided him with a sense of freedom that he cherished deeply. These experiences nurtured his adventurous soul.
His personal life was filled with vibrancy and love for his family. Gary is survived by his former wife Sandra and their children Rachel (Andy), David (Janus), Brittany (Nick). He was a proud father to Sasha Park. Grandfather to Steven, Mason, Kayla and Avery. Brother to Nancy (Benoit), Tony, Rick, Clary and Judy (Kyle). He is also remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews, not only here, but in England as well.
Gary is predeceased by his long-time love, Elizabeth Park. He cherished the adventures they took and times sitting around a campfire. Gary's parents, Raymond and Francis Millard, instilled values in him that guided him throughout his own parenting journey. The lessons of perseverance, kindness, and the pursuit of happiness were woven into the very fabric of his being and reflected in the life he led.
As we bid farewell to Gary, we celebrate the extraordinary life he lived and the countless lives he touched. His spirit, forever etched in our memories, continues to guide us through the laughter he left behind, the adventures he inspired, and the courage he demonstrated in every facet of his journey.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to Diabetes Canada, in lieu of flowers.
