It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Herbert Van Voris, age 81, on Friday, July 2nd, 2021. George was born on July 22, 1939, in Swift Current, SK, and the family moved to Fort William, ON. George also spent some time in Thompson, MB in his younger years
George was employed as a truck driver with Motorways, after which he drove taxi for many years with Diamond Taxi. George was very social, and made friends easily, always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved the outdoors, and specifically fishing and hunting. Iron Range Lake was one of his favourite spots! George was also a big dog lover, and always carried around dog biscuits.
George is survived by his brother-in-law, Ken Walters, niece, Laurie Walters (Tony Hald), nephew, Tim (Michelle) Walters, brother, Gordon Van Voris, daughter-in-law, Emily Van Voris, grandchildren Michelle Turner (Matthew), Tyler and Dylan Van Voris, and great grandsons Ethan and Luke Turner, sister-in-law, Joanne Colehouse, brother-in-law, Jim Colehouse, as well as other nieces and nephews
George was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Colehouse, his sons, Michael and Daniel Van Voris, his parents, Herbert and Irene Van Voris, his sister, Lavina Walters, and his sister-in-law, Debbie Van Voris.
Due to covid restrictions, a Celebration of Life may take place at a later date. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
