A full and wonderful life! Georgette Marie Baxter (nee Lauzon), passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 with her family by her side. Born on June 29, 1934, she was one of six children to Edward and Marie Lauzon.

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Cecile Lauzon and Jacqueline Perrier; brothers John, Peter and Arthur; parents-in-law William and Kathleen Baxter and her daughter-in-law Mary Jane Baxter as well as sisters-in-law Patricia Lauzon, Gerd Lauzon, Lillian Baxter, Barbara Baxter, Rita Legace and Elsie St. Amand; brothers-in-law Oliver Junnila, Robert Perrier, Patrick Baxter, Robert Baxter, William McCallum, Paul Baxter and Ed Arvelin; nieces Louise Junnila and Patty Lynn Baxter; nephew Jerry Junnila and special great-niece Ashley Perrier.

Georgette was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and relocated to Port Arthur when she was a small child. She attended St. Andrew's School and Port Arthur Collegiate, moving on to Kings Business College.

She was an active member of St. Andrew's Young People, where she met the love of her life and best friend. On February 19, 1955, Georgette married John Bernard (Bernie) Baxter. They celebrated over 60 years this past February.

Georgette is survived by her husband, Bernie and her children Bernadette Baxter, David (Carol) Baxter, Dan Baxter and Maureen Sztabinski. She deeply loved and was so proud of her five grandchildren Mike (Lauren) Burrows, Jeff Baxter, Jennifer (Brent) Richards, Jeanine Baxter and Brian Baxter. Words cannot express the joy she had in her three great-grandchildren Katlyn Richards, Brody Richards and Mackayla Burrows. Gigi was very special to them.

Georgette is also survived by her sisters, Agnes Junnila and Rosalie (David) Douglas; sisters-in-law Mary McCallum, Collette Baxter, Marg Baxter, Joyce Baxter, Anne (David) Andrews and brothers-in-law William (Joy) Baxter and Richard Baxter as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss Auntie Georgette dearly.

A woman of great faith, being raised in a strong faith-based home, Georgette carried this forward showing love, kindness, empathy and gave hope to all she met. All throughout her life, she was very involved in the community. She recognized how blessed she was and continually stepped forward to lend a hand to many worthwhile organizations, whether is was by canvassing door to door, volunteering time at various locations, selling tickets at the mall or by simply being present for such organizations as Heart and Stroke, Diabetes, Cancer Society, St. Josephs or Dew Drop Inn to name a few.

Georgette was a lifetime member of the C.W.L. At St. Andrew's RC Church and later with St. Margaret's, her home parish. At St. Andrew's, Mom worked on the Church Council, in the Rectory and sang in the Choir with her daughter, Maureen.

As her husband, Bernie was a Rotarian for the past 40 years, Georgette participated in many events and fundraising by his side, as well as obtaining her Paul Harris Fellowship.

Above all, Mom's passion was her family. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than having them near, spending quality time celebrating life to the fullest with each one of them.
