With profound sadness we announce the passing of Georgina Mary Dzijacky, on Saturday, November 7th with her seven children by her side.

Georgina was born in Port Arthur on January 20, 1934 to Mary and James Dawson.  She had a younger brother Jim and they shared a special closeness throughout her life.

She married her forever love Andy on February 16, 1953 and they celebrated 55 wonderful years together before Andy’s passing in 2008. She was blessed with a son and six daughters, and over the years, 7 became 29 including grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Georgina was a proud grandmother who took joy in being actively involved in their lives. Besides being a busy full time homemaker, she relished volunteer work.

She immersed herself as an Executive Member of the Slovak Legion, a member of the Catholic Woman’s League, Parents Council (now known as George Jeffrey Children’s Centre) and a much loved Girl Guide Leader. Georgina had a history of working in the retail industry, and her most enjoyable work experience was at Sears.

Some of her greatest strengths were interacting with people and her incredible sense of humour…customers and co-workers were drawn to her.

Friends were the fabric of her life and none were greater than the “Happy Gang”.  From New Years Eve parties, to camping to Birthday Extravaganzas, they had a ball. She spent many happy years at Loon Lake with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. It was the meeting place for family and friend celebrations including Birthdays, Graduations, Annual Corn Roasts, and more parties with the Happy Gang. They also enjoyed friendships with their Loon Lake neighbours. In their later years, Georgina and Andy loved to travel.  They wintered in Florida, took bus tour adventures and road trips to visit family. Georgina completed her life at Pioneer Ridge and managed her disease of dementia with grace and dignity.  She is now at peace and reunited with her beloved Andy and others that have gone before her.

She is survived by her seven children, Jim, Cathy Siegwart (Eric), Susan McDonald, Maureen Parkes, Sharon Kelly (Jerry), Colleen Fayle (Jim) and Shannon Spooner (Raymond).  Also her 18 grandchildren, Andrew Siegwart, Joshua Siegwart, Lindsay Nardone, Laura Collier, Ryan McDonald, Deena Curtis, Tanner McDonald, Adam McDonald, Sarah Parkes, Benjamin Parkes, Rachel Parkes, Jennifer Kelly-Hay, Jerry Kelly, Whitney Kelly, Melissa Turk-Fayle, Georgia Rae Spooner, Cameron Spooner, Brennon Spooner and 11 great grandchildren.  As well, brother Jim Dawson, in-laws Ann Dzijacky, George Dzijacky (June) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Georgina is predeceased by her husband Andy, mother Mary, father James, mother and father-in-law, John and Mary Dzijacky, brother-in-law John and son-in-law Dean McDonald.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 1:00pm, at St. Dominic's Church celebrated by Rev. Maurizio Maifredi c.s..

Final interment will follow at a later date. Prayers will be offered Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 7:00pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel.  If friends desire, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society-Thunder Bay Chapter or Pioneer Ridge Helping Hands Auxilliary would be appreciated.

“It is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.”
