Gerardus Kolmeijer

Mr. Gerardus "Gerry" Kolmeijer, age 77 years, passed away in hospital on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, after a lengthy illness with leukemia.

Gerry was born on May 14, 1934 to Nicholaas and Gerarda Kolmeijer in Aardenburg, Holland and he came to Canada in 1960. He married the former Elizabeth Forsgren on July 23, 1966. Gerry worked at Bowater for 25 years, retiring on August 1, 1994. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed travelling, especially going on bus trips. Gerry was interested in sports, particularly hockey, soccer, cycling and swimming.

Gerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth, ten brothers and sisters in Holland, brother and sister-in-law Winston and Norma Forsgren, and nephew Chris. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive in Holland.

Predeceased by his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law Ellen and William Forsgren.
Funeral services for the late Mr. Gerardus "Gerry" Kolmeijer will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 1 p.m. in the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma with Father Richard Kowalchuk of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation for friends will be on Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the  Everest Chapel.
