Miss Gertrude (Kerttu) Aliina Repo was called to her heavenly home early Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 90 years of age.

She was born in Fort William on June 2, 1928 to Heikki and Ida Repo. She resided in Lappe from 1930 to 1970, moving to Milne Street in Port Arthur. She was a life-long member of Lappe Lutheran Church. Her faith was very important to her. She was active in the church, co-writing the church's history book and writing articles for the Lappe School history. She was kind and generous and always ready to help.

Gertrude enjoyed sewing and knitting, making outfits for herself and her sisters. She always had a camera to take photos at various occasions. She travelled extensively in Canada, the US and in Europe. Blueberry picking was a must every summer.

Surviving are her sisters Lahja (Peter) Petrick of Thunder Bay and Toini Thienpont of Scarborough, nephews Ron (Mary Ellen) Petrick and their son William of Edinburgh, Scotland and Mark (Nikola) Petrick of Breslau, Ontario and other relatives in Finland.

She was predeceased by her parents Heikki and Ida Repo and various relatives in Finland.

Funeral services for the late Miss Gertrude Repo will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 2:00 PM in Lappe Lutheran Church with Rev. Neil Otke officiating. Interment will follow in Lappe Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.

In lieu of flowers donations to Lappe Lutheran Church, Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
