On Sunday, April 28, 2024, our family lost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Trudy, born in Port Arthur on June 6, 1936, to Thomas and Geraldine McDonald, passed away peacefully with family by her side to comfort her.

Trudy was a hard worker from a young age and had various jobs such as hand-tinting black and white photos to color at Pouncy Studios, Scollie’s Ice Cream, and Dawson Cleaners. Later in life, she enjoyed volunteer work at the 55 Plus Center.

On September 2, 1955, Trudy married Ed, and they were blessed with a beautiful 68-year marriage. Together, they welcomed three sons: Eddie, Jamie, and Todd. Family was very important to the couple as they came from large families.

Trudy enjoyed many hobbies such as camping, playing bingo, horse races, travelling, cooking/baking, gardening, and weekly family card night. She also relished music by Charlie Pride and Elvis Presley, whom she was fortunate to see perform in person. Trudy and Ed made many friends over the years, and she never had an unkind word about anyone. She always saw the good in people.

One of the happiest moments of Trudy’s life was when Todd and Michelle (predeceased) blessed the family with the birth of her granddaughter, Desirae. The two of them had/have a special bond of love that was/is very precious. They enjoyed going to Marina Park for the “Summer in the Park” concerts and festivities. Later on, they took pleasure in reading books together to discuss in their own little book club.

Trudy will be dearly missed by her loving husband Ed, sons Eddie, Jamie, and Todd, granddaughter Desirae (Bradley), granddog Buttercup, sisters Sandra McLean and Linda McQueen, brother Timmy McDonald, sister-in-law Joan Towell, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, other family members, and friends.

Trudy was well-loved and will be fondly remembered by family and friends. She will live in our hearts forever. “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, June 1st, at 6:00 p.m. at Castle Green Community Hall (213 Castle Green Dr). Donations may be made in Trudy’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Flowers would be appreciated and can be sent to the family home for the day of celebration. Flowers will be donated afterward.
