Giuditta Dal Pio

Giuditta Dal Pio passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at TBRHSC surrounded by her beloved family.

She was born in Sonego in 1924, a small village in the mountains of northern Italy.  She grew up in a large farm family, over-coming numerous hardships during the years of the Great Depression and the second World War, including a bout with typhoid.  Following the war, she met and married her husband Lino.  Lino emigrated to Canada in 1953 and she and their first child Adriana followed him to Thunder Bay 2 years later.  Giuditta loved fashion and kept up with the latest styles.  She was an accomplished seamstress and made all her own clothes as well as those of her children.  Her creativity also expressed itself in Italian cooking, needlework and knitting.  She and her husband took good care of their garden and every fall season they harvested numerous fruits and vegetables.  She also tended to all the flowers they grew around the house and garden, once winning a Civic Beautification Award.  She enjoyed dancing and socializing with friends and travelling back to her native country to visit family.  She was an active member of the Corpus Christi parish.

Giuditta is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lino, children Adriana (Charles Nassif) and Walter (Karen) and her granddaughter Melissa Dal Pio.  She is also survived by her sister Maria (Angelo) Gobbo.  She was predeceased by her parents Giovanni and Augusta Fiorot and her brothers Tony, Gisberto and Gino.

Funeral Services for Giuditta will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Corpus Christi Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Funeral Mass to be celebrated by Rev. Victor DeGagne.  A reception will follow in the lower level of the church.
