Peacefully, with her family by her side, Gladys Kathleen Collings passed away on June 16, 2019.

Gladys is survived by her children Glen (Chery Lowles) and Cathy (Robert Eady). Gladys was lucky enough to have 6 grandchildren Sarah (Scott), Joshua (Bekka), Ben, Oliver, Calvin and Luke and two great-grandchildren Michaela and Mackenzie. Gladys loved Glen’s visits and Cathy’s cooking.

Gladys was born in Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan and was one of 5 children. She is predeceased by her husband Harvey, brother Charles Harvey and sisters Ethel Whitelock and Eileen Hodge. She is survived by her sister Doreen Batson, and several nieces and nephews. Gladys was lucky enough to have wonderful men in her life, the late Larry Stranges and late Paul Zloty. She enjoyed their partnerships for many years before they passed away.

Gladys was a Registered Practical Nurse and she worked at the Lady Minto Hospital in Chapleau. She lived in Chapleau until her husband passed away and the children were both away at school. She returned to Thunder Bay to be close to family and spent the remainder of her life here.

Gladys loved to garden and had a beautiful backyard that was kept meticulously. In recent years she was surrounded by caregivers that became like family to her. Gladys was introduced to the “jam“ community as Paul loved to play the harmonica. She spent countless hours enjoying music and their friendships. Gladys loved to joke and sing along to the music. She has had some faithful 4 legged friends, Peanut and now Max. Their unconditional love made her life rich and playful.

Gladys was a strong woman who loved life and those close to her. Save a seat for her at the jam and think of her when you see the beauty of every garden.

Gladys will be missed by family and friends and her dog Max.
