It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Gladys Annie Smith (Fawcett).  Mom passed away peacefully in her home on December 27, 2017 at the age of 88.  She was born in Hurkett and lived most of her adult life in Thunder Bay.

She was one of nine children born to Robert and Sarah Fawcett.  Gladys was predeceased by her husband, James, in 1993.  She is survived by her children: James (Linda); Donald (Glennie); Richard (Shawn); Lori Lukinuk (Tim); Gordon (Donna); William (Tracy); stepchildren: Cecil (Deb); Betty Daley (Robert); Dale (Martina); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Ethel Martin and George Fawcett.

Family meant everything to Mom.  She was proud of all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She loved when family and friends dropped by.  She was known as Aunty Glady to many, even those not related, and many of her bingo buddies knew her as Glady.  This Christmas season she was surrounded by every one of her children and their families on the days just prior to Christmas and through the last few days of her life.

Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at a later date.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice. A celebration of Mom’s life will take place at the Days Inn, 645 Sibley Dr., Saturday December 30, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
