It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Glen Kettering age 90, husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather on Sept 2/22 at Pinewood Court.

Glen is survived by his beloved wife Miriam Kettering, daughters Glenna Kettering (grand-dog Gus), Norma Malcolm, son Gord (Deb) Kettering, daughter Susan Kettering, and son Warren (Lorna) Kettering. Grandchildren Mary (Cory) Hurley,Chris (Alyson) Kukula , Kelly-Ann (Richard) Franklin, Stephen Tennant, Kyle Kettering, Rhonda & Rene Kettering, Darby Klages, Kelsey & Hailey Poirier. Great grandchildren Ashley & Samantha Hurley, Brandon Kukula, Makayla & Danielle Kettering & Trent Tennant. Sister Donna Loftus & sister-in -law Pat Harris, brother in-law Owen (Dena) Harris, daughter-in-law Tracy Kettering, sister in-law Diann Judson. Brothers-in-law George & Cecil (Vicki) Judson & families. Best Friends Faye & George Pacholcak & families (Godchild Kathleen Arena), along with many Nieces and Nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Pat Kettering, Son Don Kettering, Mother & Father Merle & Gale Kettering, Stepfather Henry Smith & families, Mothers & Fathers-in-laws Olive & George Harris & Rosie & Delbert Judson, Brother & sister-in-law Barry & Rene Kettering, Brothers-in laws Moe, Roger & Norman Harris & Art Lotus. Sister in-law Clair Judson, Brother in-law Edward Judson Sister-in-law Brenda Harris, Son-in-law Bill Malcolm, grand daughter Jennifer Cramer, Niece Jennifer Harris, Nephew Darren Harris, as well as his beloved Poodle, Marcel (who would be seen following Glen everywhere).

Glen was born in Regina, SK on March 11, 1932, to Merle and Gale Kettering. Glen moved to Thunder Bay in his teens. He attended FWCI, Selkirk & Teacher's College (University of Toronto) to obtain his Auto Mechanic's Teaching Certificate. Glen taught at Northwood Highschool, Churchill Highschool and then became the Professor of the Motor Vehicle Apprenticeship Program at Confederation College until he retired in 1994. Along with all his teaching duties he was also a Drivers Training Instructor.

In the fifties Glen and his brother Barry owned and operated their own service station the Kettering Bros Service. It was then as well that they started racing, Glen was #37 & Barry #57. In 1951 Glen built his first race car engine. He was always involved in racing, at the CLE, Murillo, Riverview Raceways and Mosquito Speedway. When he wasn’t working on Don or Warren’s race car, he was helping other drivers. He was a member of the Lakehead Stock Club, Dirt Track Association, Royal Lodge and The Sports Hall of Fame.

Glen and Ken Taylor started a Scholarship Fund for the Auto Mechanic Apprenticeship program at Confederation College. Glen’s wife Miriam Kettering has now started the Glen Kettering Memorial Award at Confederation College.

Glen was a special man to an extended family, relatives & friends and to all those who knew him. We know you are at peace now with some family, friends and race car drivers. Until we meet again.

A Celebration of Life for Glen Kettering will be held on Tuesday September 13th, 2022, from 1-3pm at the Knights of Columbus Centre - 301 South May Street.

Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place At Mountain View Cemetery later.
